Could you remind me when SWAMP is?

How about using a Arduino Mini with USB and a full size breadboard? In my
opinion better than the UNO.

You might want to add a cheap EEPROM, includes a feel for I2C this way (or
SPI).

Push buttons, dont forget push buttons.
