From justin at discordia.org.uk Thu Jan 2 17:53:02 2014 From: justin at discordia.org.uk (Justin Mitchell) Date: Thu, 02 Jan 2014 17:53:02 +0000 Subject: [Swansea Hackspace] [Announce] Technical Meeting - Design and Print 3D Objects Message-ID: <1388685182.12786.6.camel@emerald.geode.org.uk> Monday 6th January 2014 7pm. Volcano, 229 High Street, Swansea. In this workshop you will learn how to create a 3D model using OpenSCAD, that can then be printed on a 3D printer. OpenSCAD is an open-source CAD (Computer-Aided Design) application, where you specify what your design should look like using a script, which is then compiled into a 3D model. During the workshop you will design your own enclosure for a Raspberry Pi. Our own Swansea Hackspace 3D printer (thanks to Alan Cox for the donation!) will also be on display. Prerequisites: You'll need a laptop to participate in the workshop. OpenSCAD runs on Windows XP or newer, Mac OS X 10.6 or newer, and most Linux distributions (including Ubuntu Fedora and openSuse). You can download OpenSCAD here: http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html From gerrit.niezen at gmail.com Thu Jan 9 10:17:06 2014 From: gerrit.niezen at gmail.com (Gerrit Niezen) Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2014 10:17:06 +0000 Subject: [Swansea Hackspace] Twitter account and slides from technical meeting Message-ID: <122FE994-72D9-4DA5-8EDE-6F7E2D208428@gmail.com> Hi there! :) We now have an official Twitter account: https://twitter.com/SwanseaHack And I?ve also made the slides, article and design files of the talk on designing and printing 3D objects with OpenSCAD available on the hackspace website: http://swansea.hackspace.org.uk/3DPrinting/Talks Cheers, Gerrit -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Obvious uses - if you need proper floating point, if you need to deploy existing PC class developments, or want to make use of the ability to have the same kind of environment on the desktop and deployed platform. The ?50 one is a development board not the kind of system most people would deploy in volume. For much of the rest I could tell you but then they'd have to shoot me.
