i see claims that 3 to 4 mil mylar is the ideal for solder paste, 
i am surprised, i would have expected it to be much thicker.

so something in the 75 - 100 micron range ideally

just dont get the PVC version by mistake :)

i have also seen examples of mylar sheet stretched over a frame used to
make silkscreens for t-shirt printing, so lots of possibilities.
