All about EL wire and how to incorporate it in your garments, outfits
and costumes to light things up. This will cover how and where to buy
it, what forms and colours it comes in, how to use it, how to fix and
join it, and some examples and techniques for afixing it.
Ticket price includes your own 3 meter length of EL wire with battery
box.

Mon 19 Oct - 7pm - 9:30pm
Open Night, Soldering Workshop, Ragworm PCB
Free and Open to everyone

This will be as special version of our regular social & open evening,
Ragworm PCB are visiting us, bringing samples of their works as well as
various goodies, and are here to answer your questions on the PCB design
and manufacture process.

We will also be running a soldering workshop, grab one of the free
hackspace themed light up badge kits kindly provided by ragworm,
practice your soldering on it, and take it away with you.

3D Printing Halloween Special
Tickets TBA.

Download some spooky objects from the internet, or design your own, and
3D print them in batty black, pumpkin orange, or ghostly
glow-in-the-dark green plastics and take them home to frighten your
friends.  Workshop covers all the techniques of downloading and printing
objects, along with an introduction to simple 3d design tools.

Coastal Housing Family Fun Day

This is an all day event being held at LC2 in Swansea, the theme for the
day is Music, we will be holding a stall there demonstrating Makey Makey
wired to produce sound (eg banana piano), as well as 3D printer(s)
producing printable instruments and noise making devices (whistles, pan
pipes, etc)

We would really appreciate some volunteers to help with the stall, you
dont need to do much, mostly be there to answer questions and hand out
fliers etc.

Microcontrollers - Shrinking your Arduino project
Free and Open

Skill sharing workshop about the various types of boards and chips that
are available to transfer your arduino project to, that are small and
cheap enough to leave permanently installed in a project. We will cover
how to use an existing arduino uno board to program these others, how
you can wire them up, etc.  Please bring any components that you would
like to experiment with.

Laser Cut Xmas Decorations Workshop

A workshop on creating festive decorations out of acrylic, card and
wood, using the laser cutter. Crystal clear acrylic snowflakes to hang
on the tree, greetings cards with cutouts and filigree, personalised
engraved baubles, anything your imagination can create.

Ticket prices include all time on the laser cutter and some sample
materials, a limited range of additional materials will be available for
purchase on the day, or bring your own.

Wed 2 Dec - 7pm
Linux Basics - Using the command line 
Free and open to all

A tutorial on Linux command line basics, how to install software, how to
navigate the filesystem, how permissions work, using the help system,
manipulating files, working with images, and other simple but useful
tips and tricks.

Please bring your own laptop for this session, if you do not have a
linux install (e.g. Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian/Raspbian) already please
bring an empty usb key that we can install a 'live' system on for you to
experiment with.

Thats probably about it for December, it tends to be a pretty busy month
for most with other commitments and socialising, so we shall start the
workshops again in january.
