We have a fantastic opportunity and are currently looking for tech savvy children to be a part of the show. We are now taking applications to crown our very own ?Absolute Tech Genius?- a CBBC viewer who has a passion for technology and a fantastic idea for a new piece of technology that could help change children?s lives. Eight children will be invited to film with us, where they?ll undergo a series of tech-based challenges as well as presenting their ideas to a panel of judges. From here, only three will be selected to continue to hone their ideas on avery special trip to the USA. I wondered if this opportunity could be passed on to the children and parents that follow Swansea Hackspace on your social medias. All further details and application form can be found on our website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/joinin/absolute-tech-genius-be-on-a-show Applications are open for children aged 9-13 and closes on Monday 14th September. Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you! Lisa Young Researcher Ground Floor. Bridge House. BBC MediaCityUK. Salford. They?ve asked us to have a stall at the fun day, which has the theme ?Engagement through Music?. We?d like to have the following at the stall, related to the theme: - The 3D printer to print whistles that can be given away - A piano made using one of the Makey Makeys in the hackspace, where the piano keys can be made from unusual items like bananas or gelatin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkPt9MYqDW0 We?re looking for volunteers who would like to help at the stall during the day - this is a good opportunity for getting more people in Swansea to know and talk about the hackspace. Message-ID: Hi all, Some of you may have already had me pester you about this and I?m about to pester again :P The following weekend (Oct 3rd/4th) is the 'Swansea Model Railway Show 2015? at the Swansea National Waterfront Museum, a stones throw from our hackspace. I have already arranged space for the Hackspace to be included in the show and am now appealing for volunteers to assist in manning our space. I myself will be around over the weekend but will have other duties to perform so am very keen to have as many of you on board as possible. The times will be between 10 and 5 both days with doors opening to the public at 11 till 4. We will also have time Friday afternoon to setup if we need to. We will have one table provided with space for another that we will have to provide. Ceri will be bringing one of his 3d Printers and I will also bring mine. I will also be bringing other ?railway? related projects I have worked on. Any other examples of whats capable at the hackspace, it will really help reel in potential new members. I may not be in Monday evening, so any questions would probably be best asked asap. Thanks, Gwion.
