Maximum team size is 20 and I can't see any reason not to try to pull together the maximum team size as its a case of churning out as many projects as possible over 12 weeks. There are only 9 other teams registered at the moment and 4 top team prizes as well as a number of individual prizes so decent odds of winning something at the moment. I'd say an average intructables contest gets 300ish entries so extrapolate from that what you will. Also every team that enters and posts more than 15 featured instructables wins a Dremel butane powered soldering iron so it really is a no brainer. I post projects on instructables regularly as I am sure some of you do https://www.instructables.com/member/JP'sW/ all my projects to date have been featured, various front page and newsletter features and I have even had a couple of runner up prizes in contests so I have a decent idea how to write up a project and get it featured. That being said I'd be happy to give a short workshop one evening to anyone interested in forming a team or of course if there are any instructables gurus amongst you I'm happy to defer to your greater knowledge. Message back if you want to get involved. This includes cleaning up any mess generated. * Tidy up after yourself Please put tools away after use, ensuring that tools are turned off and returned to their proper homes. I'm aware that the last part can be unclear - if in doubt return it to the place you found it or ask someone else. Return your equipment and projects to your box or locker. * Lock up after yourself [Notice the theme with the headings?] Please close windows and doors when leaving the space. This is Swansea, rain happens quite often (like today) and needless to say should not be mixed with our equipment! * Keep the directors informed [Couldn't fit this with the theme] If an item of equipment breaks, is damaged or has parts missing then please inform the directors (Tim, Justin and myself - or email directors at swansea.hackspace.org.uk) so that we can fix the problem. Or, if you can do so safely, fix the problem and then tell us what you fixed and how. The space belongs to all of us, and we all share the responsibility of keeping the space clean, tidy, safe(!) and usable by any and all of its members. Unfortunately I keep finding that one or more of the above points have been ignored when I'm in the space. I think 3 is all we had of those modules, didn't buy too many incase they didn't sell, personally i have switched to using the D1-Mini boards as they are better spec and you don't have to make a pcb to stick them to. ?D1-Mini also has a Pro version available which has even more flash and an external antenna socket Handy list of all the module types available and their specs: http://www.esp8266.com/wiki/doku.php?id=esp8266-module-family#summary_t able if you need that external socket, and want the plain module then the 07 is probably still best, they look to be around the ?1.50 mark. Could anyone walk me through one of these and tell me what kind of transistors I need to build a prototype? Are there also any suggested board houses that people use? I'm using Peter Jenning's "The Button" (https://benlo.com/esp8266/esp8266Projects.html ) as a base to work from. As an interesting aside, Peter Jennings is the guy behind 1970s MicroChess and VisiCalc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_R._Jennings ). His design has the switch break the entire circuit when it's off, so that you can run it of 2xAAA batteries without a voltage regulator. Total cost . I can personally recommend http://ragworm.eu/ as I've used them before.
