How do I get started with the reprap. I did the induction. I don't know what is necessary to get the printer started. For example how to power it and control it white starting it up and feeding in the filament,. 2, Ceri's printer is a masterpiece of design. I am always pointing it out to new people as a good example of lateral thinking as it is made of wood. However, I failed to get it going. After creating my file and putting it on the card. The next step is to scroll through a menu. There isn't one. All I get is a message on screen saying the card has been inserted. I have tried twiddling the knob and pressing the little switch and even touching the screen all to no avail. The instructions actually don't say how to scroll through the menu anyway. I would appreciate speedy assistance please. I'd be happy to help on producing improved instructions once I get something working. It would also be useful to have someone who doesn't yet have detailed experience to assist in trying them out. Would it be useful for the space to have its own Youtube account? Re YouTube instructions: During the induction I recorded a lot of to footage as reference for making member only video tutorials, unfortunately my SD card corrupted and the video is lost. I will get round to making videos as I do things on each machine, this may take a while as family commitments take most of my time. Last night I realised my 64Gb micro SD was not in my phone, if anyone happens to spot it around the 3D printers or over by the small paper printer please let me know. It has gone wrong and I am afraid damage will be done if it is just switched on, I tried to use it to print a file from Thingiverse and it started to move the head and went to the edge and pressed down hard tilting the bed and vibrating. I switched it of fearing it would be damaged. I tried switching it on and using the menus in the hope I could remedy this and it started vibrating again. Looking at it the head has gone beyond the edge of the bed and downwards and is caught there. I have placed a warning notice on the machine. I dont think it is damaged . I think it is just a matter of raising the head but I dont want to attempt anything else unless I know for certain how to remedy the problem and I advise others do likewise. I dont know what caused this. I followed all the steps and checked the Gcode. Neil -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Assuming it's the later PSU (switched mode one) I've done a couple of these. The hardest bit is actually getting the power supply out and apart because it's got several plastic bits designed to clip in permanently. As well as the capacitors you'll also need something to re-fix the earth lead with (it's painted with gunge to keep it from ever coming off the PSU case but you'll need to undo it to fix the PSU). Otherwise it's fairly easy, but you need to check the earths to the PSU case are properly attached and you should test the earths after it's all back together because the design relies on that lead being secure for safety. If you get stuck I can help but there is or was a person on the internet to whom you can send your PSU and he'll send you a fixed one back for quite a reasonable price. Maybe but a 1U case won't take the GPUs and they don't have the GPU power for the high end cards. There are some supermicro cases that do or you could build it all into one of the generic 3U cases given enough fans.
