They normally just pour out smoke but the room stinks for days
afterwards.

Assuming it's the later PSU (switched mode one) I've done a couple of
these. The hardest bit is actually getting the power supply out and apart
because it's got several plastic bits designed to clip in permanently.

As well as the capacitors you'll also need something to re-fix the earth
lead with (it's painted with gunge to keep it from ever coming off the
PSU case but you'll need to undo it to fix the PSU). Otherwise it's
fairly easy, but you need to check the earths to the PSU case are
properly attached and you should test the earths after it's all back
together because the design relies on that lead being secure for safety.

If you get stuck I can help but there is or was a person on the
internet to whom you can send your PSU and he'll send you a fixed one
back for quite a reasonable price.
