Yes, use a vector cut rather than a raster engrave. Instructions for setting that up are on the link Alice provided.

also is it possible to "engrave" as a "cut" path just on really low power? im after simple single line engraving path rather than anything with thickness

>From what I have read polycarbonate doesnt tend to do great in the
cutter, it discolours and melts.  so try a scrap piece first.
