From Andymrush at live.co.uk Mon Jun 22 12:09:24 2020 From: Andymrush at live.co.uk (Andy Rush) Date: Mon, 22 Jun 2020 11:09:24 +0000 Subject: [Swansea Hackspace] Hackspace Re-Opening Message-ID: Greetings, All As you are probably aware by now, the lockdown in Wales is easing up to allow non-essential businesses to open up again. So, we thought this would be a good time to inform everyone of how we plan on reopening the Hackspace. We have considered the Welsh Assembly?s guidance on easing the lockdown. Unfortunately, Hackspaces do not fit neatly into the business categories provided by that guidance. We have decided that if there is no legal requirement to remain closed, we will reopen in a very limited capacity. Think along the lines of ?We?re open if you need something? rather than ?we?re open if you want to be here? For the time being, all of the Hackspace?s previous social events (Monday Open Night, Crafternoon, Hack The Space, etc) are still cancelled. We will not be open to new members or visits from the general public. We?re sorry about that, but we feel that the risk isn?t worth it for now. We will keep reviewing the situation, and when we think it has changed enough to be safe, we?ll let you know. Access to the Hackspace itself is going to be limited to keyfob holding members only, and will be vigilantly controlled. This means booking times to be in the Space in advance, rather than dropping in. Bookings will be mandatory, and any member found in the Hackspace without a valid booking will be asked to leave and have their keyfob access revoked. Members wishing to use the Hackspace at this time will have to book ahead with the Directors (by email to directors at swansea.hackspace.org.uk) A calendar will be provided on the Hackspace website letting the membership know when the hackspace is available. For the time being, we will be allowing only one member to be in the hackspace at a time. If the demand is present, we will start compartmentalising the Space to allow a greater number of members in at once while maintaining a safe level of social distancing. Please bear with us. We appreciate that this is not an ideal situation, and we rely on our members? patience to keep going. Our Virtual Socials on Discord will be continuing for the time being. Feel free to join us there! Thanks The Directors. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I just wanted to say that I've been paying my membership fee of 15 quid per month since I joined end of November but I've stopped the payments for now. It's a pity but I think 2020 is just not the year. hopefully things will get better eventually and I'll be able to become an active member one day. All the best, Sophie. > Greetings, All > > As you are probably aware by now, the lockdown in Wales is easing up to allow non-essential businesses to open up again.
