Ceri, as ever, your words are sensible and wise.

Personally I feel quite moved by the plight of this poor little boy
and feel that it is our moral duty to help if we can.
It needs the utmost of tact and I think we should make contact
carefully, and gently and start by saying we MAY be able
to help. There are all sorts of things we don't know. I'd be
surprised , for example, if the NHS hasn't already provided some
    kind of prosthetic.
What are these "bionic hands" in design? I suspect they are reading
and using nerve impulses. Even this isn't beyond us in theory , but
    practice is another matter.

We should offer help just as a matter of pure humanity and we should
see any PR as a secondary issue and a bonus if it happens.

How to make contact is another thing, but there is that Facebook
page. There may also be an issue about the word "hacker" as well and
    I would suggest something
on the lines as describing us as a group of engineering and
electronics enthusiasts. Perhaps mentioning some of our people are
    university types would help.
