There is a zip file which contains the native CAD file and a DXF file, while its exported in mm the drawing size is 12" × 24", .jpg of original layout attached.

I used my CAD program of choice, draftsight (I have the install file for xp versions below sp3 if needed, with permission I'll install it on the laser cutter laptop) to separate the parts and organise them into three A4 (210×297mm) size files.

Justin and Tim helped me experiment with my material to find the best setting for speed and laser power, after a lot of help from Tim, a total wizard with inkscape (I would still love a tutorial evening on this) I was away with a set of parts. I need to tidy up a load of files on the desktop of that machine, I did save a few as the laser draw formate, just drop a sheet in, line it up, set the power and cut, after completing induction of course.

The materials used in this build are the polystyrene discs that supermarket pizzas are packed on, I had a about 5 of them saved up, in hindsight if I had also keep the film I could have used as the covering, I ended up using recycling bin bags, I know they have started to use different suppliers but the ones here are quite thin and "crinkly" sounding, with the tiny dimples/pin pricks, more details of covering are in the RED thread, a few have used bin bags, the build calls for 1mm carbon rod for stiffening the main wing, I used bamboo BBQ skewer as it's what I have.

This listing is for 4 sheets of 1000mm X 700mm X 3mm, works out at £5 a sheet which boils down to about 50p an A4'ish sheet, so £1.50 for the whole plane, needs about 15-20mins of laser time time.

Another way to get the foam is to buy Posterboard from Hobby Craft and remove the card, but that ain't very easy, ask how I know?

The glue I used was UHU por, superglue just melts foam!

Can also be bought cheaper from R & R Hobbies in the shoppers walk arcade of Kingsway for £3.49, which is where I got mine.

Banggood do a lot of spare parts for the WLToys planes they sell, for the first build I'll be using a Visa helicopter receiver, this will give me throttle, rudder and elevator. Mine will not be as aerobatic as the one in the video above,a can cut my ailerons and add a receiver like one in the link below if I want to take it 4ch.

This was reasonably easy to put together, took me about 3 hours but I'm sure this time can be as little as 2 hours, I was distracted by the TV and very late in the evening.

If there is enough interest I wouldn't mind doing an evening on this plane as a glider/free flight model, maybe a followup evening for adding electronics etc.

That looks great - well done and thanks for the pics!

Can you tell us a bit more about the project - where you got the files,
materials, etc?
