Thanks, that's interesting as they look like the exact same crimpers i have, mine came with the red blue yellow die for the insulated connectors used in cars/bikes and works great for them. The die i ordered for the 2.54mm pins was a hs type from aliexpress and fits the crimper but i must have picked the wrong die as it doesn't crimp tight enough, do you know which one works for the generic 2.54mm pins/plugs? And is that the one you got from cpc? (I'd can't afford to wait the 2 months delivery from China)
Cheers,Aled.

I have a similar set of ratchet crimpers, when I was looking in to it I discovered that the price of crimpers seems to depend a lot on which die comes with it. I bought a set of crimpers with the wrong die from Farnell and the die I wanted separately from I think CPC for less money than the crimpers with the correct die from either place.
These are my crimpers:https://uk.farnell.com/duratool/ht-336g/crimp-tool-ratchet-f-bnc-tnc-n/dp/2143110
They are compatible with what aliexpress calls HS crimpers when shopping for additional dies.

I need to make a bunch of connectors for 2.54mm pin headers (the type used on the pi and arduino). I have a die for my crimper which supposedly works for these but I've had pretty poor results with it so i was thinking of getting a new set, something like this one which includes the crimp tool and the connectors and housings- https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B078K9DT69/
Does anyone have any experience with these (Chinese?) crimpers, are they worth bothering with? The proper tool for these connectors is several times the price and more than i could justify spending.
