[Swansea Hackspace] New Space Progress

Hi folks,

I am writing to let you know the exciting news that we are in the final
stages of preparation to lease a new home for Swansea Hackspace right
in the centre of the city!

The space is much bigger than our last place, comprising the upper two
floors of a unit on Park Street, now it has been vacant for some time
and although it is weather proofed and water tight it is going to
require a fair amount of renovation works on our part, but that also
means we get to create the space in a way that suits our needs.

The first floor is a single huge space, the 2nd floor is divided into
smaller rooms and has two cloakrooms, there is also an attic space
suitable for storing things, and we get shared access to the main
entrance / shop front where we can place an enticing display in the
shop windows and we can replace the signage above the door, so for the
first time we will have street level visibility.

Now, this all comes at a cost, firstly that we will need to do all of
the renovation works ourselves, so we will be looking for volunteers
with skills and without to clean, decorate, and fit out the space. The
second is that although we are getting this space at an absolute
bargain price, we will need to increase our income over time to make it
sustainable, hopefully we can do this through broadening our membership
rather than raising our prices, but its something we need to be aware
of and plan for.

Once we have finalised the paperwork and taken possession we will
announce dates that you may book your socially distanced guided tour
