Nathan,

I'm in favour with the alternate Wednesday "project night" idea.

We could start next Wednesday by programming the MCU board with the RS-485
chip I ordered this week

There's a complete python/web app
<http://engineer.john-whittington.co.uk/2017/11/adventures-flippy-flip-dot-display/>
programmed to control the panel via RS-485 - replicating this with our
setup would be a good start
